About The Position

Sales Engineer – Industrial Automation Location: Boston/Worcester, MA Job Type: Full-Time Position Overview Our client is seeking a driven and technically savvy Sales Engineer to support growth across the East Region. Based in the Boston area, this role focuses on developing new business while strengthening relationships with existing customers in the industrial automation and manufacturing space. This is a highly consultative sales role where success is driven by your ability to understand customer challenges, deliver technical solutions, and drive measurable business impact.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of technical sales experience, preferably in industrial automation or manufacturing
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation systems and applications is a plus
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to engage customers in both virtual and in-person settings
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently and collaboratively
  • High level of business acumen and problem-solving ability

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with machine builders, OEMs, or manufacturing facilities
  • Background in consultative or solution-based selling
  • Familiarity with CRM tools and digital sales platforms

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage relationships with existing and prospective customers across the region
  • Identify customer needs by understanding their products, processes, and operational goals
  • Lead a structured sales process to define challenges and develop effective technical solutions
  • Identify key decision-makers and navigate complex buying processes
  • Provide technical expertise and recommend solutions for industrial automation applications
  • Conduct virtual meetings (web conferencing, phone, LinkedIn) and in-person customer visits as needed
  • Evaluate equipment and applications onsite to support solution development and project execution
  • Collaborate with internal sales and technical teams to deliver comprehensive solutions
  • Drive new business development through proactive prospecting and outreach
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging automation technologies
  • Meet and exceed sales targets, with a strong focus on revenue growth and new customer acquisition
