About The Position

This role is responsible for managing electrical contractor relationships, providing technical pre-sales support to Account Executives and most importantly driving increased revenue and efficiency across fire alarm, security, access control, and video surveillance systems. The Sales Engineer will play a key role in sales proficiency, customer retention, and revenue growth while serving as the primary technical and field support for customer facing Account Executives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in life safety, fire alarm, security, access control, or low-voltage field operations.
  • Prior experience in a service environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of service-based revenue models and recurring revenue growth.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and technical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with office software, quoting tools, and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage a “book of business” of electrical contractors in the assigned territory.
  • Support assigned Account Executives by producing accurate takeoffs, material list, labor assumptions and site reviews as needed.
  • Maintain certifications from key fire alarm manufacturers.
  • Stay up to date on relevant compliance topics.
  • Assist with training field technicians, project managers and others as needed.
  • Actively drives growth in revenue and profit margins, including T&M work, inspections, repairs, new installations and system upgrades.
  • Identify opportunities to expand relationships with the full range of offerings from IPS.
  • Partner with operations to support service-led sales opportunities.
  • Serve as an escalation point for key electrical contractor customers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to promote long-term retention.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and professionalism on every service interaction.
  • Ensure all proposals comply with applicable codes, AHJ requirements, and manufacturer standards.
  • Support audits, inspections, and customer site walks when required.
  • Team members are expected to approach each day asking how they can exceed customer expectations and support teammates across the company.
