About The Position

The Sales Engineer is responsible for increasing business by supporting assigned targeted customers with both technical and commercial information. This role provides higher‑level guidance, support, and instruction to AE’s and Sales Engineers while developing strong customer relationships through technical support, training, presentations, and follow‑up. Based in Port Arthur, the position requires travel to engage customers and make business‑development presentations. The role may also occasionally require working near moving mechanical parts as part of customer site visits and technical support activities. Territory: Primarily Port Arthur and Pasadena areas, may include Baton Rouge.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial Distribution preferred) OR equivalent related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to management and public groups.
  • Strong reasoning skills with ability to solve complex technical and abstract problems.
  • Technical knowledge of fluids, corrosion, erosion, materials, valve specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work effectively with difficult people.
  • Strong time‑management and prioritization skills for a high workload environment.
  • Ability to understand the production process from order entry through shipment.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial issues including payment terms, shipping terms, and contract review.
  • Required computer skills including internet use, Performance! sizing software, and Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical or Industrial Distribution Engineering degree.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries with urgency following a Quick Response Center mentality.
  • Answer technical questions related to control valves, materials, pneumatics, digital products, noise, cavitation, and industry standards.
  • Serve current customers while strategically pursuing new accounts.
  • Answer commercial questions regarding contract terms, lead times, and documentation.
  • Review all valve orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare persuasive and competitive quotations.
  • Identify and apply correct QA procedures to meet customer requirements.
  • Provide technical training and presentations to develop business.
  • Work synergistically in a team environment and assist other departments as needed.
  • Organize and document quotes, training, projects, and workload.
  • Use required software tools including Performance!, ORACLE, and Microsoft Office.
