About The Position

The MCR standard is to provide clean, friendly, well-organized and safe hotels for our guests. The Director of Sales will be responsible for meeting and exceeding group booking goals, increasing average daily rate and occupancy growth, growing market share on an annual basis, revenue maximization and expense control, and sales and/or events department oversight. They will also maintain client relationships and networking. This role requires a proactive approach to developing action plans, conducting site inspections, and executing strategic plans to achieve optimal occupancy and ADR growth. The Sales Director will coordinate with revenue and pricing teams to build pipelines for key dates and soft periods, secure new business, and maximize total revenues while controlling expenses to meet profitability objectives. Oversight of the hotel sales function includes sales, follow-up, and sales administration, as well as executing operational aspects of booked business, generating proposals, writing contracts, and customer correspondence. The role also involves overseeing event management for group bookings to ensure a seamless on-property experience with friendly service for all contracted customers, maintaining a clean, spotless, well-organized, and safe hotel, and achieving great guest satisfaction scores. Building and maintaining professional relationships with clients, third-party meeting planners, referral sites, and other lead generators is crucial, as is maintaining strong visibility in the local community and industry organizations through positive representation at site visits, trade shows, and sales calls. Attendance at required meetings and functions, even outside typical office hours, is expected.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Progressive experience in the hospitality, hotel, restaurant, or service industry, including Rooms and Food & Beverage departments preferred.
  • Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Possess highly developed verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence others, negotiate, provide friendly service and possess professional selling skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
  • Must have attention to detail, meet deadlines and demonstrate strong organization and presentation skills.
  • Read, write, understand and communicate with others effectively using the English language.
  • Read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals.
  • Write routine reports, correspondence, business letters, summaries, and reports in English using prescribed format, and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
  • Ability to speak effectively in English before groups such as customers or employees.
  • Read and interpret business records and statistical reports in English.
