About The Position

We are recruiting a Sales Director - Canada (excluding Quebec) for one of our clients, an international, family-owned company specialized in creative lighting and decorative solutions for municipalities, public spaces, shopping destinations, and private developments. Based in Toronto, Ontario, you will play a key role in accelerating the company’s commercial development across Canada outside Quebec, taking over an existing customer portfolio while opening new growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in B2B business development within the Canadian market.
  • Proven ability to sell complex, project-based solutions involving long sales cycles and multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working with municipalities, public-sector organizations, Business Improvement Areas, shopping centers, real estate developers, or institutional customers.
  • Comfortable managing the full sales process independently, including prospecting, tender responses, presentations, negotiations, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Strong commercial skills combined with the administrative rigor required to manage complex projects.
  • Autonomous, proactive, and entrepreneurial.
  • Comfortable taking initiative in a decentralized environment while maintaining close coordination with international teams.
  • Ability to build trusted, long-term customer relationships through active listening, reliability, and follow-through.
  • Adaptable, persistent, and able to remain effective throughout long and sometimes uncertain decision-making processes.
  • Experience coordinating or managing a small team.
  • Fluent English.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in architectural or public lighting, urban furniture, public-space development, construction, building materials, infrastructure solutions, or installation services.
  • Knowledge of French.
  • Spanish as an additional asset.

Responsibilities

  • Driving sustainable revenue growth across Canada, excluding Quebec.
  • Defining and implementing the sales action plan, identifying priority markets and customer segments, and building a strong pipeline of opportunities.
  • Directly leading commercial development in Ontario while identifying relevant partners or resources to support growth in other provinces.
  • Taking ownership of existing customer relationships and developing long-term partnerships with municipalities, Business Improvement Areas, shopping centers, real estate developers, and other strategic customers.
  • Managing the entire sales cycle, from prospecting and identifying upcoming projects to needs analysis, proposal development, tender responses, presentations, negotiations, and contract signature.
  • Coordinating resources from design, engineering, production, logistics, marketing, and administrative teams based in Europe to build competitive proposals and successfully deliver projects.
  • Managing and coordinating the small local Canadian team.
  • Providing regular reporting on the sales pipeline, forecasts, priorities, and market developments.
  • Regular travel across Canada outside Quebec, customer visits, and participation in professional events.
