About The Position

The Sales Development Representative (SDR) is a part-time, in-office role focused on building qualified sales pipeline. This position serves as the first point of qualification for inbound prospects and supports transactional customers. The SDR will learn the fundamentals of consultative sales and is considered the front line of the Sales Team's pipeline. Responsibilities include running structured outbound calling and emailing to book meetings for Account Managers, qualifying and routing inbound calls and chats, and managing day-to-day interactions for transactional customers. This role is an internship opportunity in Birmingham, Alabama, with strong performers being considered for future full-time Account Manager roles.

Requirements

  • Interest in sales, business, or a customer-facing role.
  • Ability to work a consistent 20-30 hour weekly schedule in the Birmingham office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable making outbound phone calls and engaging directly with customers.
  • Ability to stay organized, follow a defined process, and manage multiple conversations and follow-ups.
  • No prior sales experience required; capability, coachability, and willingness to learn are prioritized.

Responsibilities

  • Run outbound calls and email programs against target lists to create new opportunities for Account Managers.
  • Qualify interest and book intro calls directly onto Account Manager calendars.
  • Track outbound activity and conversion in HubSpot.
  • Own first-touch inbound phone and chat conversations, asking qualifying questions and taking notes.
  • Qualify inbound prospects based on Motive and Means, logging findings in HubSpot.
  • Send existing accounts directly to their Account Manager or capture a complete message if unavailable.
  • Ensure lead information is captured and assigned appropriately in HubSpot.
  • Support sales workflows and administrative tasks.
  • Own day-to-day service for transactional customers, identifying and escalating potential opportunities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Atlas’ values, organizational structure, and core systems.
  • Gain proficiency in core systems like HubSpot, Aircall, Front, and Acumatica.
  • Handle inbound triage and qualification independently.
  • Manage transactional ecommerce accounts post-order.
  • Execute outbound customer engagement strategy.
  • Generate qualified meetings for Account Managers through outbound efforts.
  • Handle objections and know when to escalate.
