Job Description Covaris, a PerkinElmer Company, develops, manufactures, and markets instruments, consumables, and reagents used in pre-analytical sample preparation for genomic and proteomic analysis to help accelerate the pace of research and life science innovations. Using proprietary technologies including focused acoustic energy, Covaris’ tools achieve highly accurate and reproducible results with the goal of empowering customers to make new discoveries, develop new assays and improve bioanalytical results. Some of the non-contact applications include faster automated DNA fragmentation, cell lysis, accelerated binding partner mixing, bead resuspension, and compound formulation. Summary: Covaris is seeking a Sales Development Representative to join the Commercial Team. You will manage the US customer sales process for the Covaris product lines, focusing on lead generation and accelerating growth accounts and sales opportunities via phone and e-mail. Interacting with existing customers and identifying new ones will be a core responsibility. You will interact significantly with colleagues in sales, marketing, business development, and applications to address customer questions/concerns, create and submit individualized quotes as well as additional customer service and logistics.

Requirements

  • Sales Experience required, including prospecting, negotiating, listening, and closing.
  • Experience and proficiency with Salesforce is mandatory
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to communicate directly with customers and internal teams – both written and verbal.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous inside sales experience in the life science research, medical or diagnostic field is a plus.
  • B.S. Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of prospecting tools such as AI, LinkedIn, or Sales Navigator a plus.
  • Knowledge of Next-Gen Sequencing, proteomics, FFPE sample prep, and Library Prep is desirable.
  • Laboratory experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage Scileads and LinkedIn to generate new leads.
  • Facilitate and accelerate the introduction of new products and services within the assigned product portfolio.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies and plans to expand service contract revenue within the Team's Sales Region; maintain a pipeline of opportunities to meet or exceed sales objectives.
  • Demonstrate acumen to describe and consult on technical product lines.
  • Work with your manager to develop and manage a business plan to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Develop reports of sales activity and data entry into Salesforce.com.
  • Develop and maintain effective customer relations with lab managers, end users, and purchasing contacts within the Team's Sales Region.
  • Independently make decisions but also utilize available resources to meet customer needs and work effectively with a cross-functional team of internal resources.
  • Perform sales calls primarily by phone, but face-to-face customer meetings may be required.
  • Support multiple sales representatives within the assigned Team by providing information specific to our diagnostics portfolio, including technical data, product recommendations for customer applications, and other technical support.
  • Qualify leads by identifying research applications, workflow challenges, and decision-making roles to determine alignment with Covaris solutions.
  • Analyze research focus and job function of prospects to inform targeted outreach and develop relevant, personalized follow-up messaging.
  • Research competitor and industry activity and keep informed of new products/services and other general information of interest to customers, incorporating this data in the business plan.
  • Maintain accurate reporting, records, and files necessary for proper territory management.
