About The Position

Hauler Hero is seeking a Sales Development Representative (SDR) to generate new business opportunities and initiate meaningful conversations with prospective customers. This is an outbound-focused role where you will identify waste haulers, reach out via calls, email, and LinkedIn, understand their business operations, uncover pain points, and book qualified product demonstrations for Account Executives. The role emphasizes the quality of opportunities and captured context, aiming for meetings that can lead to real pipeline. The ideal candidate is driven, coachable, resilient, organized, and curious about how businesses operate. Prior experience in the waste industry is not required, but a willingness to learn is essential. This position serves as a launchpad for career growth into larger sales roles within the company.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in a sales, SDR, BDR, or customer-facing role, ideally in SaaS or technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort making cold calls and handling rejection.
  • A competitive, self-motivated mindset.
  • Strong personal organization and activity discipline.
  • Curiosity about customers and how their businesses actually work.
  • Ability to build quick rapport with hands-on business owners and operators.
  • Coachability and willingness to apply feedback quickly.
  • Comfort using a CRM.
  • Interest in using AI, automation, and modern sales tools.

  • HubSpot experience.
  • Experience selling into SMB or mid-market businesses.
  • Experience in SaaS, vertical SaaS, or B2B technology.
  • Prior outbound prospecting experience in a high-activity sales environment.
  • Background or interest in waste, logistics, fleet, field services, trades, transportation, construction, or other operational industries.
  • Experience with sales engagement tools, call coaching tools, or AI-assisted prospecting.
  • Experience working with business owners, operators, dispatchers, or other non-technical buyers.
  • Interest in growing into an Account Executive role.
  • Exceptional entry-level candidates with demonstrated hunger, communication ability, and horsepower will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities through consistent, high-quality outbound activity (cold calls, email, LinkedIn, creative outreach).
  • Research accounts, identify target companies and contacts, prioritize territories, and build an outreach rhythm to create sales pipeline.
  • Conduct early discovery conversations with decision-makers to understand their current business processes, tools, and pain points.
  • Identify if Hauler Hero is a strong fit by asking clear questions and listening carefully to uncover real business problems.
  • Book product demonstrations for Account Executives, providing them with necessary context such as prospect pain, current systems, urgency, and fit.
  • Own and manage a book of accounts, including territory research, prioritization, follow-up, and strategic planning.
  • Maintain clean and accurate data in HubSpot, logging activity, tracking touches, and ensuring data integrity for team decisions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Hauler Hero's product, the waste industry, and customer challenges.
  • Provide feedback on messaging, targeting, objections, competitors, and customer pain to improve the sales process.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership, AEs, and marketing to refine sequences, talk tracks, and outbound strategies.
