This is a term position where the Sales Consultant Trainee will articulate and demonstrate the Sysco value proposition to engage and onboard new customers. The role involves strategic account planning, developing new business, growing the account portfolio, and retaining customer accounts to achieve profitable sales growth within an assigned territory. The trainee will evaluate customer business needs, analyze market trends to develop customer-centric solutions, and possess strong negotiation skills to manage profitable margins. They will stay informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products and sales, leveraging sales technology and business resources for consultative services. A commitment to continuous learning is expected to optimize performance and career growth. This role also encompasses all account management and customer service responsibilities, credit and accounts receivables management, increasing customer share of wallet, and improving sales mix. Mandatory use of the CRM tool (Sysco 360) is required for customer relationship management, pipeline management, communication, and measurement. The role will utilize eCommerce for 70%-100% of customer order management and PMT & Deal Manager for territory and market share growth. Oversight of pricing management and strategy for the territory is also included. The position may require working non-traditional hours and offers a level of individual autonomy to support customer needs. Activities and results will be tracked, opportunities will be collaborated on, and the team selling process will be championed through Salesforce. Proactive learning and development through participation in training programs to sharpen consultative selling skills and product knowledge is essential. Compliance with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures is mandatory, as is a commitment to safe work practices with minimal environmental impact, including immediate reporting of hazards, incidents, and environmental spills. The role plays an integral part in personal and colleague safety, with an expectation to speak out when hazards are present. Other duties as assigned.
