About The Position

The Sales Trainee learns about Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits products, the beverage industry, consultative sales, and customers. The role supports more senior sales employees and the Area Sales Manager in servicing and selling to customers. The trainee receives training in customer relationship management, account planning, sales analysis, product positioning, consultative selling, and customer issue resolution. The position also involves keeping account information current in the Proof CRM application and participating in sales meetings, on-site trainings, and supplier events as required.

Requirements

Ability to secure and maintain a State Sales Permit in accordance with state laws.
Ability to analyze and understand data and information.
Ability to leverage SGWS technology to perform duties and responsibilities.
Ability to build and structure customer presentations and product proposals.
Proficiency using mobile devices, such as an iPad or smartphone, and online communication techniques such as email, posting, and texting in a professional manner.
Ability to consistently achieve results, even under tough circumstances.
Ability to take responsibility for one’s actions and results and provide a consistent high level of service to customers, suppliers, colleagues, and management.
Ability to communicate effectively through various methods and express oneself clearly and concisely while tailoring the message to the audience.
Ability to be nimble in ambiguity, be open to change, and embrace innovative ideas.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
Valid and current driver’s license.
High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to travel as needed.
Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

Build positive, credible, lasting customer relationships based on trust.
Preplan account visits with an agenda, service purpose, and selling opportunities.
Discover and identify customer business growth needs.
Develop a customer business growth plan for each account.
Analyze data and insights to increase sales, grow customer business, and better achieve objectives.
Build a pipeline of selling opportunities to drive incremental sales above base business.
Prioritize sales activities to achieve objectives based on each customer business growth plan.
Visit accounts regularly, capture visit notes, and build visit plans considering previous visit outcomes.
Maintain deep knowledge of SGWS products and correctly present and position them in each account.
Propose selling solutions to each customer and win the sale using consultative selling skills.
Achieve internal SGWS and supplier objectives as prioritized by management.
Manage customer issue resolution and seek additional opportunities to support customer needs.
Adapt the selling approach based on each customer’s buying styles and individual business needs.
Learn all accounts and stay current on competitors’ offerings and how SGWS products are positioned relative to the competition.
Document and maintain account- and customer-specific information in the Proof CRM application.
Participate in sales meetings, on-site trainings, and supplier events as required.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
