About The Position

The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) is seeking a Sales Associate to join their team at the Lower Base Mini Mart. This role involves selling general merchandise to customers using professional selling techniques and working as part of a sales team to provide exceptional customer service. The position also includes assisting in all aspects of the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar operations, such as opening and closing, preparing and displaying goods, replenishing stock, and cleaning stations and equipment.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and engages customers to provide sales assistance, suggests additional items, and offers extended product warranties.
• Interacts with customers and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner, adhering to dress code and assisting team members.
• Becomes knowledgeable about merchandise, including setup, use, care, characteristics, price points, and warranty coverage, and communicates this information to customers.
• Ensures assigned areas are fully stocked and merchandise is neatly arranged, communicating with supervisors about stock and customer feedback.
• Completes sales transactions efficiently and thanks customers.
• Performs cash register transactions accurately, including cash, charge, check, gift certificates, and layaway.
• Informs customers of upcoming sales events and services, and offers NEXCARD account openings.
• Becomes knowledgeable in NEX store policies and handles customer returns and problems tactfully.
• Maintains a high level of awareness to deter theft and offers excellent customer service.
• Unpacks, stages, and moves merchandise as assigned, assists in creating store displays, and performs inventories.
• Completes paperwork related to merchandise, inventory, price adjustments, returns, and cash register operations.
• Participates in commission and gainsharing sales incentive programs.
• Lifts up to 25 lbs. as it relates to job duties.
• Opens and closes the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar.
• Ensures all equipment is turned on during opening and turned off during closing.
• Preheats and displays products in heated display merchandisers.
• Replenishes products and condiments for the beverage bar.
• Ensures all products remaining at the close of business are time-dated.
• Cleans small wares and equipment throughout the day and at closing, and effectively time-dates food and beverage products.
• Monitors the temperature of refrigerators and freezers a minimum of 3 times daily.
• May be required to attend food safety training sessions.
