About The Position

As a Sales Associate, you are at the heart of the Pet Care Center experience. You help pet parents find the right products and solutions for their pets while creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment. The role involves providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service, supporting sales goals, and helping maintain an organized and well-stocked sales floor. It is suited to someone who enjoys helping others, learning about pet care, and working with a team in a fast-paced retail environment.

The work takes place in a Pet Care Center retail environment and requires active engagement on the sales floor. It involves frequent standing and walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting, including safely moving merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. The role also involves working near animals and possible exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. Flexible availability is required to support store operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

• Passion for animals and an interest in pet care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and transactions.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in proximity to animals, including exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals.

• Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support the health, safety, and proper care of animals according to Petco policies and standards.
• Share accurate product and pet care information so customers can make informed choices.
• Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful, solution-focused service.
• Create positive shopping experiences that build trust and customer loyalty.
• Help customers select products and services that meet their pets’ needs; educate them about products, services, and promotions.
• Support store sales and service goals.
• Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently, including cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.
• Collaborate with and support teammates.
• Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, organized, and visually appealing store and sales floor.
• Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and support inventory integrity and stock accuracy.
• Assist with store recovery, merchandising, promotional setups, and daily operational routines.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Support additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
