About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Akron is hiring an entry-level Sales Associate / Cashier to provide customer service to shoppers and donors while supporting the agency’s community mission. The role involves greeting customers, promoting the Elizabeth Clark Fund and Goodwill Club membership, processing purchases, answering calls, selecting and pricing donated goods, and maintaining clean store areas. The associate also completes transaction and donation-related reports and helps ensure merchandise meets Goodwill quality-control standards.

Requirements

Ability to operate a cash register, including counting back change.
Basic math, computer, and typing skills.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Customer service skills.
Friendly demeanor and excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Reliability and trustworthiness.
Ability to work independently and foster a strong team atmosphere.

Responsibilities

Greet shoppers and donors and provide friendly, attentive customer service.
Inform customers about the Elizabeth Clark Fund and invite them to participate.
Encourage customers to sign up for or use their Goodwill Club membership.
Process purchases accurately and efficiently using the cash register and point-of-sale system.
Complete donation counts, readings, daily business statements, deposits, and cash-drawer balances.
Answer the phone and listen carefully to callers.
Select and price donated goods and textiles according to Goodwill quality-control standards.
Keep all areas neat and clean.
Work independently while contributing to a strong team atmosphere and promoting the agency positively.
