About The Position

Sales Associates provide friendly, knowledgeable, and proactive customer service while helping create a positive, welcoming store environment. They engage customers, answer questions, and recommend products suited to customer needs. The role also includes processing transactions, fulfilling online and phone orders, caring for in-store animals, receiving and tracking inventory, learning product information, and maintaining store presentation and cleanliness. Associates provide daily care for feeder insects, small animals, and reptiles; monitor animal health; handle animals humanely; and maintain sanitary habitats. They also verify and stock deliveries, use inventory software, participate in physical counts, and follow loss-prevention procedures. The position requires completing an eight-week training course, participating in ongoing product education, and communicating product knowledge effectively. Associates maintain merchandise displays, signage, and cleanliness throughout the store and other designated areas. The work takes place in a fast-paced warehouse and retail setting with frequent movement and material handling, exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise, and possible early morning or weekend work based on business needs.

Responsibilities

Proactively engage customers on the sales floor, answer questions, and recommend products tailored to their needs.
Process transactions accurately using the POS system, including returns, exchanges, and different payment methods.
Provide attentive customer service, resolve issues professionally, and build rapport to encourage repeat business.
Pick, pack, and prepare online and phone orders for shipment or customer pickup.
Feed, water, and clean habitats for feeder insects and small animals, including mice, rats, and guinea pigs.
Care for reptiles by maintaining appropriate temperature and humidity, providing food and water, and cleaning enclosures.
Observe animals for illness or distress, report concerns to management, and follow established protocols.
Handle animals gently and humanely to support their well-being and minimize stress.
Maintain clean and sanitary animal-care areas to help prevent disease.
Verify incoming deliveries against packing slips, record inventory receipts, and stock shelves.
Use inventory management software to track stock, identify low-stock items, and generate reports.
Participate in physical inventory counts and identify potential discrepancies.
Follow loss-prevention procedures, secure high-value items, monitor inventory, and report suspicious activity.
Complete the eight-week training course and participate in brand ambassador seminars and ongoing product education.
Research products independently and communicate product features, benefits, and applications to customers.
Keep the sales floor, break room, restrooms, and office areas clean and tidy.
Front, face, and organize merchandise; create visual displays; and maintain accurate signage and promotions.
Follow safety policies and procedures, meet attendance and performance expectations, and adapt to changing priorities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
