About The Position

The Sales Associate position at Buehler's First Avenue is responsible for upholding the Core Values and ensuring customers are amazed every time. This role involves engaging customers, understanding their needs, and projecting future requirements. Associates are expected to execute daily operational goals with a sense of urgency and attention to detail, while cooperating with team members and management. Key responsibilities include maintaining assigned departments, restocking merchandise, handling special orders, and preventing shoplifting through excellent customer service. The role also involves promoting loyalty programs, communicating promotions, and assisting customers with various needs, including training peers. A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required, with flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise.
  • Maintain assigned department: Keep clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, including participating in daily huddle meetings and sharing ideas for improvement.
  • Remove promotional bin tags from displays and price tags as required following sales events, flyers, etc.
  • Restock merchandise displays as needed, watch end caps and side wings.
  • Handle special orders for all non-stock items, ensuring no customer is told 'no' without checking with management.
  • Watch for shoplifters and take action in line with company policy.
  • Provide the best possible experience for every customer by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
  • Stand in a main aisle when not with a customer or cleaning to observe customers.
  • Walk up and down main aisles to ensure customers in all departments are being assisted.
  • Avoid personal conversations with co-workers on the floor.
  • Serve customers in assigned departments or storewide, providing needed advice or information.
  • Greet customers as soon as they are encountered.
  • Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process.
  • Actively participate in store communication and initiatives.
  • Assist customers with simple complaints/concerns; involve a manager with problems as needed.
  • Use the Five Foot Rule – greet and/or acknowledge all customers within five feet.
  • Always be polite and attentive to customers, making eye contact and smiling.
  • Promote the Ace Rewards program to all customers, describe the Ace Helpful Promise(s), and use the Magic Question.
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements to inform customers about special sales.
  • Always wear your radio and headset for effective communication.
  • Respond to Customer Coordinator questions as needed.
  • Assist customers with large or heavy items as needed.
  • Offer customers a red basket for their shopping use.
  • Assist in the training and development of peers.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as directed by supervision.
