About The Position

The Sales Associate works in the Paint department to welcome customers, provide friendly and professional service, and help customers find products and services for their home improvement needs. The role includes listening to customers, answering questions, helping them locate and select merchandise, assisting with shopping or checkout, and occasionally loading merchandise. Associates organize and replenish merchandise, accurately process orders and deliveries, and prepare products for customer needs, including tinting and mixing paint. Work assignments may vary according to department needs, hiring needs, and the associate’s skillset. Associates may cross-train in other store areas and perform other duties as assigned.

The role does not require regular travel, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed. Working conditions vary by location and may involve indoor and outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, wet or humid conditions, wind or drafts, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Associates must follow lifting guidelines, use powered equipment only as required and with proper training or assistance, and use team lifts when appropriate.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
• Bilingual skills.
• Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

• Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
• Accurately process orders and deliveries so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
• Cross-train in other store areas to support customer service.
• Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, including tinting and mixing paint.
• Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
