About The Position

The vehicle salesperson is responsible for selling vehicles and meeting dealership gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction standards. This position includes four broad areas of activity: personal work habits, prospecting, selling, and follow-up. Income potential between $50 - 95K annually.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Valid in-state driver’s license with motorcycle endorsement / must be able to obtain upon hire.
  • Professional personal appearance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to sell a minimum quota according to dealership standards.
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • Must perform duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Determine each customer’s vehicle needs by asking questions and listening.
  • Demonstrate vehicles (includes test drives).
  • Deliver vehicles to customers, ensuring they understand operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
  • Establish personal income goals consistent with dealership standards and devise a strategy to meet them.
  • Report to the vehicle Sales Manager regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews, and analyses.
  • Stay informed about incoming inventory, features, and accessories and how they benefit customers.
  • Collaborate with the service department and body shop to ensure timely vehicle reconditioning.
  • Attend sales meetings and training offered by the dealership and manufacturer.
  • Maintain a prospect development system.
  • Maintain an owner follow-up system to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Review and analyze actions daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly to improve time utilization and planning.
  • Understand automobile business terminology and stay updated on product technology.
  • Understand and explain equity, values, and depreciation to customers.
  • Understand federal, state, and local laws governing retail auto sales.
  • Introduce customers to service department personnel to highlight the quality and efficiency of services.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and report all accidents immediately.
