About The Position
The Sales Associate works as a Customer Service Associate in the Outside Lawn & Garden department. The role welcomes customers, helps them identify products and services for their home improvement needs, answers questions, assists with product selection and merchandise handling, and works to ensure customer needs are met. Duties include organizing and replenishing merchandise, accurately processing orders and deliveries, and preparing department merchandise according to customer needs. Associates may cross-train in other store areas and help guide customers through shopping or checkout. The role may involve working indoors and outdoors in varying weather and climate conditions, exposure to noise and moving equipment, and occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores. Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer to input, access, modify, or output information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Follow lifting guidelines that limit single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
- Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.
Nice To Haves
- Six months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Accurately process orders and deliveries so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other store areas to support customer service.
- Prepare department merchandise based on customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
