About The Position

The Sales Associate supports the store management team in the overall operation and performance of the store, including sales, merchandising, and operations. The role contributes to the well-being of animals and pets while helping the store reach sales goals and maintain efficient daily operations. Sales Associates follow company policies and procedures and work to enhance the lives of pets and their people through attentive service, product knowledge, and adherence to operational standards. This position involves spending most of the work time on the sales floor, standing or moving around in a relatively temperature-stable environment. Work may occasionally be performed alone. The role requires physical exertion and dexterity, including repeated lifting of up to 55 pounds during a shift. Accidental injuries from pets, as well as slips, trips, falls, and strains or sprains from lifting, are possible. Employees must be at least 18 years old and able to work a flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, according to business needs.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Ability to repeatedly lift up to 55 pounds several times throughout a shift.
Ability to stand or move around for most of the work time.
Active listening when communicating with customers and employees.

Responsibilities

Help drive in-store sales, service, and customer experience initiatives by demonstrating the company’s selling and service models.
Acknowledge, welcome, and thank each customer in a friendly and timely manner.
Help customers select products, answer questions, and find appropriate food and accessories for their pets.
Maintain store consistency and reputation by complying with Brand Standards and company policies and procedures.
Work with the store team to meet or exceed targeted sales goals and complete assigned sales tasks.
Clean pet enclosures and ensure animals have appropriate food and water.
Support maintenance of the fish system.
Restock merchandise on shelves and fixtures, and move products from the stockroom to the sales floor.
Maintain a professional manner and positive attitude when communicating in the workplace.
Complete other tasks and duties assigned by store management.
Maintain a clean, neat, and safe shopping environment.
Support a positive team environment, help coworkers when needed, and work independently when appropriate.
