About The Position

As a Sales Associate, you are at the heart of the Pet Care Center experience. You help pet parents find the right products and solutions for their pets while creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment. The role is suited to someone who enjoys helping others, learning about pet care, and working on a team in a fast-paced retail environment. The position includes customer service and sales, cashiering, stocking and replenishment, inventory support, merchandising, store recovery, and maintaining store cleanliness and organization. It is performed in a Pet Care Center retail environment and requires active engagement on the sales floor. You will work around animals and may be exposed to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. Availability must be flexible to support store operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Passion for animals and interest in pet care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and transactions.
Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in proximity to animals, including exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals.
Flexible availability to support Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Support the health, safety, and proper care of animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards.
Share accurate product and pet care information to help customers make informed choices.
Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and solution-focused service.
Help customers select products and services that meet their pets’ needs, and educate them about products, services, and promotions.
Create positive shopping experiences that build trust and customer loyalty, and support store sales and service goals.
Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently, including cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.
Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, organized, and visually appealing sales floor and store environment.
Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and support inventory integrity and stock accuracy.
Assist with store recovery, merchandising, promotional set-ups, and daily operational routines.
Collaborate with and support teammates in achieving store goals.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
