About The Position
The Sales Associate welcomes customers to Lowe’s and helps them find appropriate products and services for home improvement needs. The role involves listening to customers, answering questions, assisting with product selection and merchandise handling, organizing and replenishing merchandise, and ensuring customer needs are met. Associates work in a department assigned according to store hiring needs and their skillsets; the listed departments include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, and Pro Services. Day-to-day duties can vary by department.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
- Replenish merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and restocking supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive the expected merchandise on time.
- Cross-train in other store areas to help provide customer service.
- Prepare merchandise to meet customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
