About The Position

Retail Sales Associates help ensure New Balance retail stores operate smoothly and provide exemplary customer service. They use product knowledge and appropriate selling techniques to assist customers throughout the transaction process while positively representing the New Balance brand.

Associates greet customers, understand their needs, educate them about product features and benefits, address questions or problems, and complete sales using suggestive selling, multiple selling, and effective closing. They measure and fit customers with appropriate products, explain promotions, maintain a neat, organized, and well-stocked sales floor, and ensure merchandise is properly labeled and price marked. They also help protect products and follow safety procedures.

This is a part-time seasonal position at the Santana Row, California retail location. The stated hourly pay range is $18.45–$19.65–$23.60, with actual base pay varying based on factors including relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, and geographic location.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Strong customer service and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with cash register functions.
• Ability to perform basic math quickly.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift 4 pounds frequently and a maximum of 8 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to kneel or squat frequently.
• Ability to move product boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance if necessary.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders occasionally and climb and descend stairs frequently, depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service using proper selling techniques, product knowledge, and the GUEST service model: greet customers, understand their needs, educate them about products, solve problems or answer questions, and transact sales.
• Measure and fit customers with appropriate New Balance products.
• Inform customers about current promotions.
• Keep the sales floor neat, organized, and well stocked.
• Ensure items are labeled and price marked properly.
• Protect products by greeting customers, attaching and detaching security tags, monitoring floor merchandise, and reporting shrinkage and security violations.
• Follow safety regulations, including proper lifting procedures, and report accidents and near misses promptly.
