About The Position

As a Sales Associate at Petco, you are central to the Pet Care Center experience. You help pet parents find appropriate products and solutions while creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment. The role involves customer service and sales, sharing product and pet care information, cashiering, stocking and merchandising, and supporting store operations and animal care. It is suited to someone who enjoys helping others, learning about pet care, and working collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment.

Requirements

Passion for animals and an interest in pet care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and transactions.
Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in proximity to animals, including exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals.
Flexible availability to support Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to perform the role’s physical activities, including frequent standing and walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.

Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Support the health, safety, and proper care of animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards.
Share accurate product and pet care information to help customers make informed choices.
Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and solution-focused service.
Help customers select products and services that meet their pets’ needs; educate them about products, services, and promotions.
Create positive shopping experiences that build trust and customer loyalty, and support store sales and service goals.
Help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, organized, and visually appealing sales floor and store environment.
Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently, including cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.
Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and support inventory integrity and stock accuracy.
Assist with store recovery, merchandising, promotional set-ups, and daily operational routines.
Collaborate with teammates and support store goals.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
