About The Position

As a Sales Associate at Petco, you are at the heart of the Pet Care Center experience. You help pet parents find products and solutions for their pets while creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment. The role is suited to someone who enjoys helping others, learning about pet care, and working as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.

You provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service; share accurate product and pet-care information; assist customers with purchases and transactions; and help maintain the sales floor, merchandise, inventory, and store presentation. You also support the health, safety, and proper care of animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards.

The position is performed in a Pet Care Center retail environment and involves active engagement on the sales floor. It requires frequent standing and walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting, including safely moving merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. The role includes working near animals and potential exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. Flexible availability is needed to support store operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

• Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and transactions.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Flexible availability to support Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support the health, safety, and proper care of animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards.
• Share accurate product and pet-care information to help customers make informed choices.
• Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and solution-focused service.
• Create positive shopping experiences that build customer trust and loyalty.
• Assist customers in selecting products and services that meet their pets’ needs.
• Educate customers about products, services, and promotions, and support store sales and service goals.
• Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently, including cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, organized, and visually appealing sales floor and store environment.
• Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and support inventory integrity and stock accuracy.
• Assist with store recovery, merchandising, promotional set-ups, daily operational routines, and task execution.
• Collaborate with teammates and follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Support additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
