About The Position

The Sales Assistant assists the dealership Sales team in finding specific vehicles, responding to customers, supporting the sales process, and following-up with customers after vehicle purchase. The Sales Assistant is required to demonstrate a sound understanding of the latest industry trends, features and benefits of each vehicle. To be a successful Sales Assistant, you should have strong customer service, communication, and problem solving skills.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Driving Record that meets insurance requirements and company policy.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current and active Sales License, in states where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dealership Sales team in finding specific vehicles.
  • Respond to customers.
  • Support the sales process.
  • Follow-up with customers after vehicle purchase.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the latest industry trends, features and benefits of each vehicle.
  • Establish personal sales goals and implement a plan of action to achieve goals.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that impact retail automotive sales.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Process data and organize it for management analysis.
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Understand and follow work rules and procedures.
  • Work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Interact well with others and be a positive influence on morale of department, dealership and organization.
  • Assist in cleaning vehicles from snow, if applicable to the local climate.
