About The Position

Our client is a global leader in advanced measurement and sensor technology, providing innovative solutions used across transportation, infrastructure, automotive, and industrial markets. They are seeking a Sales & Application Engineer to grow their Traffic Solutions business throughout North America. This position combines technical sales, business development, project management, and customer support and will work closely with state Departments of Transportation (DOTs), government agencies, system integrators, engineering firms, and other transportation-industry partners. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic technology, transportation equipment, or government sales who enjoys working with customers and translating technical needs into practical solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience selling capital equipment or technology to government/DOT customers, preferably within the traffic or transportation industry.
  • Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) or related transportation technology.
  • Background selling or supporting products such as: Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) systems, License Plate Recognition (LPR/ANPR), Roadside Units (RSUs), Traffic monitoring systems, Transportation sensors, Smart infrastructure technology, Other ITS equipment or solutions
  • Experience managing large accounts, projects, or complex sales opportunities.
  • Ability to understand and discuss sensors, electronics, networking, communications, and system integration.
  • Strong business development and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a global team.
  • Ability to travel 50%+ throughout the U.S. and Canada, with occasional international travel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities and grow sales within the transportation and infrastructure market.
  • Build and maintain relationships with state DOTs, government agencies, system integrators, engineering firms, partners, and major accounts.
  • Identify upcoming transportation projects and develop opportunities from the initial conversation through proposal and sale.
  • Meet with customers in person and virtually to understand their technical and business needs.
  • Recommend appropriate traffic and infrastructure technology solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Prepare technical quotes, proposals, presentations, and commercial offers.
  • Work closely with internal engineering and application teams to develop customer solutions.
  • Support customers throughout the sales process and help resolve technical questions or challenges.
  • Manage key accounts and develop long-term customer relationships.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging transportation technologies.
  • Maintain accurate sales opportunities, customer activity, and project information within the CRM.
  • Attend trade shows, industry conferences, seminars, demonstrations, and customer events.
  • Work collaboratively with sales, engineering, marketing, and application specialists across North America and globally.
  • Travel regularly throughout the United States and Canada to meet with customers and support business development activities.
