About The Position

The Sales and Social Media Intern participates in a comprehensive training program focused on sales and catering for a full-service hotel. The intern works with customers and Sales Team Leads to complete projects effectively and on time, developing proficiency in Sales, Catering, Marketing, Guest Services, and Events. The position is at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bloomington, Illinois, and reports to the Director of Sales. The schedule may include evenings and weekends.

Requirements

Working knowledge of social media platforms, especially TikTok and Instagram.
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism.
Excellent time management and self-motivation to work with a high degree of autonomy.
Ability to identify and acquire new business.
Ability to follow Team Lead directions.
Ability to exchange routine information appropriately and communicate professionally with guests, team members, team leads, and others.
Ability to read and speak English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to operate company equipment, including a company cell phone and computer, and use email, electronic calendars, prospect and client research tools, and basic office support software.
Valid Illinois State Driver’s License, or ability to travel to clients and prospects when needed.
Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

Nice To Haves

Pursuing a college degree in Business, Sales/Marketing, or Hospitality.
Sales experience or other experience in the hospitality industry.
Working knowledge of the hotel and its available services and amenities.

Responsibilities

Plan, create, and manage a TikTok account for the hotel.
Maintain social media posts across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
Assist the Wedding Sales Manager before and during events to collect content.
Research competitors' clients in and around the Bloomington/Normal area.
Work with Sales and Catering Managers on projects across the industries served as clients.
Plan, organize, and execute a sales blitz for the sales department.
