About The Position

Cosmic Shielding Corporation develops advanced radiation protection solutions and systems for space and defense applications. Our Plasteel® technology enables spacecraft, payloads, and electronics teams to use increasingly capable commercial hardware in demanding radiation environments. Cosmic works with commercial space companies, defense customers, government organizations, and major aerospace partners to take new capabilities from initial evaluation through qualification and production. We are looking for a Sales and Business Development Manager to help scale that commercial activity as Cosmic expands its standardized product offerings and production programs. This is a hands-on sales role for someone who can independently manage opportunities from initial customer engagement through quote, qualification, purchase order, and repeat production. You will work directly with senior leadership and closely with product, engineering, and manufacturing teams to develop new commercial accounts, expand existing customers, and convert early product evaluations and sample programs into production business. This is a remote role with regular customer interaction and travel. Candidates based in or near Huntsville, Alabama are preferred, but we are open to the right candidate elsewhere in the United States.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in aerospace, defense, space, or another relevant technical market
• Experience in sales, business development, account management, or customer-facing technical work
• Demonstrated ability to manage a full commercial sales cycle
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to communicate effectively with engineering and program teams
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, business, or a related field; an engineering or technical background is strongly preferred
• Comfortable working with both commercial and government customers
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
• Comfortable operating in a small, fast-moving company where responsibilities extend beyond a narrow job description
• Willingness to travel for customer meetings, conferences, and industry events

Nice To Haves

• Experience in spacecraft, satellite systems, electronics, radiation effects, advanced materials, aerospace manufacturing, or related markets is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and close new commercial space and defense customers
• Own opportunities through the full sales cycle, from initial engagement through quote, qualification, purchase order, and repeat business
• Drive sample and evaluation programs toward qualification and production
• Manage customer follow-up, quotes, pricing coordination, and commercial execution
• Expand existing accounts and identify opportunities for additional products and programs
• Build relationships with engineering, program, procurement, and business stakeholders at customer organizations
• Maintain disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, CRM activity, and sales cadence
• Sell Cosmic’s standardized enclosure and product-family offerings as they move into production
• Support government and defense opportunities, including capture coordination and customer engagement
• Work with senior leadership on larger strategic accounts, partnerships, and major capture opportunities
• Represent Cosmic at customer meetings, industry events, and conferences
• Provide market and customer feedback to product and engineering teams
