About The Position

The Sales Account Specialist will be responsible for maintaining, cultivating, and developing customer relationships. This role involves participating in customer visits and daily communication with an assigned customer base. The specialist will collaborate with the National Account Manager (NAM) to identify opportunities, develop new customers, and compose freight rates. They will also establish new customers, drive business growth, and continuously seek revenue opportunities. The position requires managing customer needs by providing shipping and delivery schedules, price quotes, and addressing any issues or delays. Additionally, the role involves assisting with claims, escalated OS&Ds, and handling incoming customer calls. The Sales Account Specialist is expected to actively pursue training opportunities to further develop outside sales skills and may assist in the order entry process if the Customer Service Representative is unavailable. Regular, timely attendance, including potential overtime or after-hours work, is crucial to meet customer needs efficiently.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in third party logistics, sales or operations
  • Effective and efficient working independently and as a team
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and respect in a high pressure and fast paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and proficient organization skills
  • Ability to multi-task while learning new information about our customers and our industries
  • Follow all safety laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Immediately report safety concerns to supervisor.
  • Attend, and successfully complete, when applicable, all required safety training.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), and Food Safety and Quality Food Programs (SQF).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, cultivate, and develop customer relationships through participation in customer visits and daily communication.
  • Collaborate with NAM to identify opportunities and help develop new customers.
  • Compose freight rates for specific points the customer is interested in.
  • Establish new customers, drive business growth, and continually look for revenue opportunities.
  • Assist with sales calls and take incoming new business calls, referring them to the assigned NAM.
  • Collaborate with the existing customer base to solicit new opportunities.
  • Participate in rate bids and quotes, working closely with NAM to produce rate sheets and complete RFPs.
  • Update system rates and bid sheets as necessary.
  • Provide shipping and delivery schedules, price quotes for new lanes, and address any issues or delays in shipments.
  • Assist with claims and escalated OS&Ds.
  • Handle incoming calls for all customers.
  • Act as a valuable resource for problem resolution, load tracking, and collection activities.
  • Actively pursue training opportunities to further develop outside sales skills.
  • Assist in the order entry process if the Customer Service Representative is unavailable.
  • Maintain regular, timely attendance to meet customer needs, which may include overtime or after-hours work.
