About The Position

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust’s (RWT) Primary Care Network is seeking a part-time Salaried GP to join their team under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified GP, within two years of completing their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). The role involves 7 sessions per week on a permanent contract, contributing to the delivery of primary care services across the Vertical Integration Practices. The PCN is committed to innovation in primary care provision and works closely with RWT to improve community patient care by integrating primary and secondary care. As part of the Primary Care Directorate at RWT NHS Trust, the role offers a voice in organizational decision-making and aims to enhance the attractiveness of Primary Care as a specialty with an improved working life for GPs.

Requirements

  • Newly qualified GP (within the last two years, without a substantive post).
  • Must be within 2 years of completing their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).

Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive range of clinical and triage duties at the agreed Surgeries within our Primary Care Network, which may also include working within our Enhanced Access Service.
  • Undertake surgery consultations, home visits where necessary, and telephone queries from patients and health care professionals.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Undertake on-call duties as part of the Surgery on-call rota, where agreed. This may include requesting that patients present at the surgery, telephone consultations, home visits and triage.
  • Work with patients to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication on medication regimens, side-effects, and interactions.
  • Assess, identify, and refer patients presenting with mental health needs in accordance with national and local guidelines.
  • Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, develop care plans for health.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards including the recording of appropriate information for the Quality and Outcomes Framework Services.
  • Collect data for audit purposes.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
  • Timely assessment of incoming electronic and paper correspondence relating to both patient and non-patient information as required.
  • Use the appropriate electronic systems.
  • Complete insurance, and other reports relating to patients under our care.
  • Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care and any other duties reasonably required by the practice.
  • Support the development and implementation of new care pathways that align with ARRS objectives.
