About The Position

Culver Summer Schools & Camps (CSSC) is a summer program serving young people ages 7–17 on a 1,800-acre campus on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee in Indiana. Sailing Instructors serve Naval School students in the Upper School, a six-week leadership development program for ages 14–17. They are responsible for implementing the Naval School curriculum and assigned Naval duties safely, effectively, and enjoyably. Naval staff teach three double-period, 90-minute classes each weekday, coach and assess students’ sailing skills, and supervise and officiate assigned naval competitions. Staff must meet CSSC’s general summer employment expectations, including supporting camper safety and well-being, following rules and safety procedures, maintaining professional boundaries, and serving as positive role models. A mandatory one-week staff orientation runs June 12–17, 2027; some roles require additional training. Waterfront staff arrive June 6, 2027. International staff may be eligible for J-1 visas through IENA, but Culver does not guarantee visas.
