About The Position

The Safety Trainer leads the site's safety training strategy and serves as a key partner in advancing a culture of safety, compliance, and employee engagement across all facilities and shifts. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering safety training programs; maintaining training compliance and records; managing required certifications and recertifications; and supporting onboarding, safety communications, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Human Resources, and site leadership, the Safety Trainer drives safety awareness, identifies training needs, and ensures the timely execution of EHS programs and safety culture initiatives that support a safe, compliant, and high-performing workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience acceptable
  • Minimum of 3 years of safety experience in manufacturing, warehouse, pharmaceutical, or industrial setting
  • Working knowledge of OSHA workplace safety and DHEC environmental standards
  • Qualified, or able to qualify, as a powered industrial truck evaluator under 29 CFR 1910.178(l)
  • Strong communication skills and credible floor presence
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Own the company safety training strategy, including new hire safety orientation, forklift training compliance, and recurring safety training
  • Own the Shift Supervisor Safety Program- curriculum, qualification standards, refresh schedule and authority structure
  • Schedule recurring safety training sessions across all shifts; prepare training materials, rosters, and sign-in records
  • Track training completion and overdue requirements; escalate gaps to the Manager
  • Schedule shift supervisor safety training and refreshers; maintain the supervisor safety certification matrix
  • Track on-call rotation schedules and coverage; distribute Shift Supervisor Safety Program communications
  • Schedule forklift operator training and evaluations; maintain certification matrix and expiration tracking; coordinate required documentation
  • Maintain department files, forms, records, dashboards, and reports
  • Support VelocityEHS data entry and reporting; track open corrective actions and overdue items
  • Assist with routine inspections of eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, PPE, and safety signage
  • Support vendor and contractor orientation processes
  • Hold stop-work authority for imminent danger conditions
  • Own execution of The RITEway strategy, campaigns, recognition events, communications, and awareness programs
  • Maintain knowledge of current OSHA and DHEC requirements relevant to recordkeeping and training
  • Serve as designated qualified evaluator of record under 29 CRF 1910.178(I); conduct operator practical evaluations and recertifications
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures, safety and health guidelines, and cGMP Guidelines
  • All other duties as assigned
