About The Position
The Safety Technician supports the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This position is responsible for conducting inspections, monitoring workplace conditions, training employees, and assisting with incident investigations. The Safety Technician works closely with the Safety/EHS Manager, supervisors, and employees to maintain compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations, while fostering a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of experience in safety, EHS, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and hazard recognition.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of employees.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
- Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, HAZWOPER) preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine safety inspections of equipment, work areas, and processes to identify and correct hazards.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA standards, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
- Assist with maintaining required safety records, permits, and reports.
- Support and conduct safety training programs, including new hire orientations, PPE use, lockout/tagout, and hazard communication.
- Help administer and maintain programs such as machine guarding, confined space entry, fall protection, and respiratory protection.
- Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents, near-misses, and injuries, and help implement corrective actions.
- Monitor chemical storage, labeling, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) compliance.
- Provide support in emergency preparedness and response, including spill response, fire prevention, and evacuation drills.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a resource to employees for safety questions, concerns, and reporting.
