About The Position

The Mundy Companies is seeking a Safety Technician for a long-term position in the Victoria, Texas area. The Safety Technician will oversee projects and maintenance, ensuring compliance with standards, processes, communications, training, and systems. This role requires flexibility as responsibilities may change based on immediate site needs. The position demands strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to learn Mundy Site Automation Systems. A high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness, a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and the ability to follow instructions are essential. Clear and concise oral and written communication skills are also required. Applicants must be craft certified or able to pass a craft test, and successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of continuous and current experience as a Safety Technician in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
  • Microsoft Word skills.
  • Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend the Mundy Site Automation Systems.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all times.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be craft certified or possess the ability to pass a craft test.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Other qualifications as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee projects and maintenance to ensure compliance with standards, processes, communications, training, and systems.
  • Ensure the existence and awareness of a suitable and relevant health and safety policy.
  • Maintain a safe workplace without risk to health.
  • Ensure safe plant and machinery, and safe movement, storage, and use of articles and substances.
  • Ensure adequate provision of first aid and welfare facilities and support.
  • Provide suitable and current information and supervision concerning health and safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Perform proper and timely assessment of risk to health and safety, and implement necessary measures.
  • Provide emergency procedures, first-aid facilities, safety signs, relevant protective clothing and equipment, and incident reporting.
  • Liaise with customers and relevant authorities, and assist with audits and remedial actions.
  • Ensure the workplace satisfies health, safety, and welfare requirements for ventilation, temperature, lighting, sanitary, washing, rest facilities, and lunchroom facilities.
  • Implement prevention and precautions against, or adequate control of, exposure to hazardous materials, and danger from flammable, explosive, caustic, electrical, noise, radiation, and manual holding risks.
  • Conduct surveillance and reporting on health and safety practices and systems.
  • Report all Mundy Incidents immediately to the Mundy Site Manager.
  • Conduct incident investigations to determine the “Root Cause” for all incidents involving Mundy personnel.
  • Develop corrective action plans/procedures to minimize the risk for repeat incidents.
  • Actively participate in the Safety Awareness Program.
  • Maintain Safety Awareness Data in a database to target problem areas.
  • Ensure corrective actions are in place to address deficiencies reported through the Safety Awareness Program.
  • Conduct Daily Safety Audits on site.
  • Complete and forward First Report of Injury forms to the company’s Workers Compensation Carrier within 24 hours.
  • Ensure full compliance of the site’s inspection program related to ladders, slings/chokers, electrical tools, hoist, come-a-longs, fire extinguishers, eyewash/safety shower stations-Mundy locations, hoses, cranes, forklifts, etc.
  • Maintain updated Material and Documentation in all Safety & Health Manuals.
  • Enforce adequate housekeeping in and around all Mundy Facilities.
  • Ensure adequate housekeeping measures are in place in business units where employees perform individual tasks daily.
  • Develop site-specific training material and tests on an as-needed basis.
