About The Position

We are home to Teledyne’s Central Research Laboratory and a global leader in infrared sensor technology, serving customers such as the U.S. Department of Defense. This internship offers valuable exposure to EH&S practices in a research, manufacturing, and laboratory setting while working alongside experienced safety professionals.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
  • Interest in workplace safety, environmental compliance, or occupational health.
  • Ability to research regulations and follow standardized safety procedures.
  • Willingness to complete required safety training (e.g., hazardous materials handling).
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators and steel-toe footwear.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic familiarity with SharePoint is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between Thousand Oaks and Camarillo as needed.
  • U.S. citizenship due to access restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the safe handling, labeling, transfer, and organization of hazardous chemicals and waste.
  • Help maintain chemical accumulation areas through routine inspections, audits, and documentation.
  • Support chemical spill response activities and emergency preparedness efforts under supervision, using appropriate PPE.
  • Participate in routine lab and facility safety audits.
  • Provide support for environmental programs related to air quality, water discharge, and solid/hazardous waste.
  • Assist with maintaining chemical inventories and EH&S records.
  • Help order and track lab supplies, PPE stock, and safety equipment.
  • Update internal safety postings and publications as needed.
  • Support coordination of vendor visits and EH&S activities across the Thousand Oaks and Camarillo locations.
