About The Position

This position is responsible for developing and delivering technical, compliance and safety training to increase the capabilities, effectiveness and adaptability of the Distribution Operations organization through the development of individuals and work groups. Position is also responsible for evaluating employees and contractors in determination of Operator Qualifications of those individuals.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a related field and 1+ years of experience in gas distribution/transmission/storage operations or the development and delivery of gas utility related training or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to develop and retain a broad knowledge of company and field operations, construction standards, safety disciplines/rules, procedures and applicable OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory agency’s rules.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical journals and regulations and the ability to interpret information for an audience of various backgrounds and skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed with the ability to interact with all levels within the company and the ability to lead and direct large numbers of employees within classroom settings.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • PC and MSOffice proficiency will be necessary for computer-based training and records maintenance.
  • Driver License, Valid and in State

Nice To Haves

  • Previous safety program experience and/or previous experience as an adult trainer/educator.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of safety and health rules, regulations, and reporting requirements, and a comprehensive knowledge of communication, education and training techniques.
  • Listed as an Industrial Training Services task evaluator and proctor.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with management in the identification of technical skill deficiencies and provides relevant training remedies.
  • Provides consultative support to management and safety committees with the goal of creating and maintaining an accident free workplace.
  • Assists subject matter experts in OSHA, PHMSA, and other regulatory matters throughout the company.
  • Conducts job site inspections/observations to ensure required safety and compliance procedures and standards are followed and to evaluate the application of practices and skills taught in training sessions.
  • Assists with design and delivers specialized technical training, qualification evaluations, and required safety/compliance and technical training programs for the Retail, Gas, and Electric lines of business.
  • Investigates serious injuries and near misses and counsels with employees involved in incidents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
