About The Position

At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, a part of Froneri, a global pure-play ice cream leader, the company is embarking on a new chapter of accelerated growth. With nearly 100 years of experience in the U.S. and a portfolio of brands like Häagen-Dazs, Drumstick, Dreyer’s & Edy’s, the company is headquartered in Walnut Creek. They are investing in capital expansions for Operations and Supply Chain and transforming their work processes to be agile and elevate quality. The Safety Supervisor is responsible for implementing and overseeing workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, and other regulatory requirements. This role specifically focuses on maintaining a safe working environment within manufacturing, storage, and distribution areas, particularly in a food production setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in workplace safety, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, FDA, and food safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and training skills.
  • Ability to analyze safety data and implement improvement plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in workplace safety (e.g., OSHA 30, CSP, or similar) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety training for employees on proper handling of equipment, hazardous materials, and emergency response.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, and other safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses, implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accident reports and safety records.
  • Work with quality assurance teams to ensure food safety protocols align with OSHA and FDA standards.
  • Monitor PPE use and hygiene practices in ice cream production and storage areas.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans.
  • Conduct fire drills and ensure emergency equipment is maintained.
  • Inspect machinery and cold storage areas to ensure safety compliance.
  • Ensure safe handling of chemicals, including cleaning agents and refrigeration gases.
  • Stay up to date with changes in workplace safety regulations.
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as needed.
