About The Position

Nova Space Solutions, LLC (NSS) is a joint venture between Wolf Creek Federal Services, Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chugach Government Solutions, LLC) and Amentum Technology, Inc. NSS Safety Specialist is a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and security of a construction job site environment. As a Safety Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of protecting employees, overseeing compliance with construction safety regulations, and implementing preventative measures to mitigate risks. Safety Specialists play an essential part in promoting a culture of safety, conducting regular audits/site-specific safety plans, and incidents investigations/root cause analysis with precision and expertise. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four or more years of safety management experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire)
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license
  • Experience working with current federal, state and company safety regulations and policies

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support accident prevention programs, safety policies, and training initiatives.
  • Conduct post incident investigations in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Oversee Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) programs ensuring compliance with NASA, federal, state, and organizational requirements.
  • Conduct surveillance of facilities, contractors, and operational activities.
  • Identify hazardous conditions and recommend appropriate controls.
  • Ensure residual risk acceptance is documented prior to operational start or restart.
  • Perform hazard analyses, safety assessments, and procedure reviews.
  • Participate in ORA, TRR, PRR, and related safety evaluations.
  • Provide technical safety guidance and recommendations to Government representatives.
  • Monitor changes in safety regulations and standards.
  • Advise management on compliance impacts and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments, job hazard analyses, and system audits.
  • Manage safety programs and improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Evaluate engineering and planning documents for compliance with NASA and regulatory requirements.
  • Support integrated hazard analysis involving NASA Flight hardware and complex systems.
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  • Comply with all applicable safety- and health-related rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Consistently punctual.
  • Successfully complete all assignments.
  • Regular in attendance in accordance with agreed upon work hours schedule.
  • Work safely themselves and help their teammates work safely.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in identifying and mitigating potentially hazardous conditions using a JSA / Safe Plan of Action (SPAs), investigation incidents/accidents, and conduct safety inspections/Audits.
