About The Position

The Safety Specialist – Medical Logistics supports the execution and enforcement of safety programs across medical logistics operations, including warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and hazardous material handling. This role ensures compliance with DoD, OSHA, DOT, and contract-specific requirements while proactively identifying hazards, supporting training, and maintaining a safe and mission-ready work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2–4 years of experience in safety, logistics, warehouse, or related environment
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA safety standards and workplace safety practices
  • Familiarity with hazardous material handling and PPE requirements

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10/30-hour certification
  • HAZMAT awareness or certification
  • Forklift/Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certification experience
  • Experience supporting DoD or federal logistics operations
  • Ability to follow and apply safety procedures and technical guidance

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing site-specific safety programs, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Support compliance with federal, state, DoD, and contractual safety requirements
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and assist with audits across warehouse and operational areas
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to safe work practices in daily logistics operations
  • Support proper handling, storage, labeling, and transportation of hazardous materials
  • Ensure personnel comply with HAZMAT procedures and certification requirements
  • Enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with standards
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all applicable materials
  • Report and document accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions
  • Assist in preliminary incident investigations and data collection
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain safety logs and assist with reporting requirements
  • Support delivery of safety training (e.g., warehouse safety, PPE, HAZMAT awareness)
  • Track employee certifications and ensure compliance with required safety training
  • Reinforce a culture of safety awareness and accountability among personnel
  • Monitor safety compliance in daily logistics activities, including: Receiving, shipping, and storage operations, Inventory control and material handling, Equipment operations (forklifts and MHE)
  • Ensure proper material segregation, facility safety standards, and housekeeping practices
  • Participate in internal safety inspections and government audits
  • Identify hazards and recommend improvements to reduce operational risk
  • Support tracking of Safety KPIs and corrective action follow-up
