Safety Specialist | Rahway, NJ
About The Position
HazTek is seeking a Construction Safety Specialist to support a pharmaceutical construction project in Rahway, New Jersey. The role provides daily safety oversight across all trades and works closely with contractors and project leadership to maintain a safe work environment. The position involves overseeing construction activities for compliance with OSHA regulations and site safety requirements, supporting startup activities and hazardous energy control (HEC) and lockout/tagout (LOTO), and monitoring crane and rigging operations. The specialist also conducts inspections, reviews JSAs, work permits, and lift plans, follows up on corrective actions, facilitates safety meetings, and coordinates with project teams to identify and address hazards. Local applicants only; travel, per diem, and relocation are not offered. Weekend work may be needed.
Requirements
- Construction safety experience overseeing multiple trades.
- Strong hands-on experience with startup activities, HEC, and LOTO.
- Experience with crane and rigging safety and lift plan reviews.
- OSHA 510 required.
- OSHA 30 completed within the past five years required.
- Current First Aid certification required.
- Strong communication and contractor coordination skills.
- Availability to support weekend work as needed.
