About The Position

This role is for a Safety Specialist at Indorama Ventures, a company focused on reimagining chemistry to build a better world. The Safety Specialist will be responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating activities for facility health and safety, including emergency response and safety procedures, and working with outside agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or ten plus years of relevant site process experience
  • Must have a level of proficiency with SAP, Internet, Email and Microsoft Office programs
  • Formal root cause analysis and incident investigation.
  • Program review and auditing.
  • Technical writing and reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state safety and health regulations including OSHA ANSI, NFPA and NIOSH
  • Experience with H&S technical and/or procedure writing skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate (both orally and in writing) with and influence all levels of business unit employees including senior management
  • Competency in training, facilitating, and presenting to multi-disciplinary groups

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) desired.
  • Experience with fire prevention and protection systems is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and coordinate activities for facility health and safety and other H&S department needs (e.g., emergency response and safety).
  • Develop and update procedures and work with outside agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assist other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals.
  • Follow instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
  • Participate in and completes company required training programs.
  • Support the development, implementation, and assessment of the safety systems.
  • Provide guidance related to health and safety issues.
  • Interact and work with the production, maintenance, and engineering departments to provide technical support related to regulatory compliance and the development of practical solutions related to safety, industrial hygiene, training, fire protection emergency management, and recordkeeping.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Assist in the assurance that the site complies with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain site safety policy and procedure and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct site audits.
  • Lead safety teams in resolving safety concerns.
  • Develop and deliver safety-related training programs.
  • Support employee involvement in safety initiatives.
