About The Position

The Safety Specialist will serve as the primary on-site responder for workplace injuries, illnesses, and medical emergencies. This role involves administering basic first aid, triaging injuries, and determining the need for off-site medical evaluation. The specialist will also manage the distribution, fitting, and inventory of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), conduct daily safety walkthroughs, and assist the Safety Manager with incident investigations. A key aspect of this role includes translating safety materials into Spanish and ensuring compliance with company policy and OSHA standards.

Requirements

  • Native or fluent oral and written proficiency in Spanish and English required.
  • Active First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
  • Experience in a first responder, occupational health, or safety role—preferably in manufacturing, construction, or industrial settings.
  • Calm under pressure, approachable, and able to build trust across a diverse workforce.
  • Able to walk the plant floor for extended periods, bend, stand, and lift up to 30 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant, or OSHA 10/30 certification is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site responder for workplace injuries, illnesses, and medical emergencies.
  • Administer basic first aid, triage injuries, and determine if off-site medical evaluation is needed.
  • Maintain complete and confidential records of all first aid visits and treatment logs in accordance with company policy and OSHA standards.
  • Provide empathetic, clear care instructions to employees.
  • Oversee the distribution, fitting, and inventory management of all required plant PPE (e.g., safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, respirators).
  • Track PPE stock levels and request reorders to ensure supplies are always available.
  • Inspect gear and educate workers on proper PPE fit, care, and replacement schedules.
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs of the production floor to check first aid stations, eyewash stations, and safety equipment.
  • Translate safety reminders, injury reporting steps, and safety training materials into Spanish as needed.
  • Assist the Safety Manager with incident investigations and documentation.
