About The Position

Delta Solutions & Strategies is actively seeking a full time Safety Specialist at Shaw Air Force Base, SC. This role involves reviewing, developing, and preparing positions and responses to Numbered Air Force (NAF) and MAJCOM ACC taskings in accordance with the Flight Safety Action Officer (FSAO) handbook and other-directed guidance. The specialist will attend safety meetings, conferences, working groups, and symposiums, and coordinate required Government decisions with appropriate division leadership. Responsibilities include preparing command-level safety briefs and staff packages, and creating reports, memos, letters, forms, briefings, and other documents using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. The role also entails managing electronic files, operating office equipment, and managing assigned classified and unclassified e-mails/task and Task Management Tool (TMT) tasks. A key aspect of the position is overseeing the implementation of mishap prevention programs and supporting the investigation and reporting of safety events in accordance with various DoD/AF Safety regulations and guidance. The specialist will also develop and implement proactive aviation safety programs and provide technical and administrative support to the Safety FAM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • 5 years’ experience as a Pilot, CSO, ABM or Remote Pilot
  • Wing level or higher staff experience
  • 2 years’ Wing level or higher staff experience
  • Successful completion of Flight Safety Officer Course which can be satisfied by one of the following: Aviation Safety Program Management (ASPM) and Aircraft Mishap Investigation Course (AMIC)
  • ACC Flight Safety Program Management Course and AMIC
  • Air Reserve Component Chief of Safety Course (ARCCOS) and AMIC
  • Flight Safety Officer Course (WCIP05C) and 2 years’ experience as Flight Safety Officer
  • Navy Aviation Safety Officer and Aviation Safety Management Course
  • Army Mishap Investigation Course and Aviation Safety Manager Course
  • Secret clearance required

Responsibilities

  • Review, develop, and prepare positions and responses to Numbered Air Force (NAF) and MAJCOM ACC taskings in accordance with (IAW) the Flight Safety Action Officer (FSAO) handbook and other-directed guidance.
  • Attend safety meetings, conferences, working groups, and symposiums in which broad aspects of Safety (SE) operations are discussed.
  • Coordinate any required Government decisions with appropriate division leadership.
  • Prepare command-level safety briefs and staff packages, IAW the FSAO handbook and other-directed guidance.
  • Prepare reports, memos, letters, forms, briefings, and other documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access databases, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat software.
  • Answer office phones, provide information to callers, and take messages or forward calls to appropriate individuals.
  • Edit, modify, and maintain the applicable SE branch calendar with personal schedule to include appointments, leave, vacation, and travel.
  • Manage assigned classified and unclassified e-mails/task and Task Management Tool (TMT) tasks and ensure all responses are properly staffed and formatted before being released by directorate leadership IAW the FSAO handbook and other-directed guidance.
  • Oversee implementation of the mishap prevention programs IAW the most current DAFI 91-202, The US Air Force Mishap Prevention Program, and other applicable DoD/AF Safety regulations, as well as supplemental guidance.
  • Support investigating and reporting of safety events IAW the most current DAFI 91-204, Safety Investigations and Reports, DAFMAN 91-223, Aviation Safety Investigations and Reports, and other applicable DoD/AF Safety regulations, as well as supplemental guidance.
  • Develop and implement activities and strategies to employ proactive aviation safety programs in their unique operational and training environments IAW the most current DAFI 91-225, Aviation Safety Programs, and other applicable DoD/AF Safety regulations, as well as supplemental guidance.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Safety FAM IAW the most current DAFI 91-202, DAFI 10-401, and other applicable DoD/AF Safety regulations, as well as supplemental guidance.
  • Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, phone systems, and use computers for collaboration/cloud tools, such as SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, e-mail, and other applications.
  • Manage electronic files related to all assigned tasks.
  • Create and maintain a continuity folder for each duty position containing job responsibilities, procedures, points of contact, templates, forms, and associated task documentation.
