About The Position

T&M Associates is seeking a Safety and Industrial Hygiene Specialist 2 to join our growing Health and Safety team within our Environmental Market in Indianapolis, IN. In this role, you’ll partner with clients to identify, evaluate, and help control occupational safety and industrial hygiene hazards in manufacturing, industrial, commercial, and institutional environments. The position will support safety compliance evaluations, hazard assessments, exposure monitoring, field sampling, risk assessments, and written recommendations across the Midwest Region. This position requires up to 30% travel outside of Indiana.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical field.
  • 5–7 years of relevant safety, industrial hygiene, EHS compliance, or occupational health experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, construction, or institutional environments.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting safety inspections, hazard assessments, job hazard analyses, incident reviews, and corrective action tracking.
  • Demonstrated industrial hygiene experience, including air sampling, noise monitoring, chemical exposure assessments, PPE evaluations, and interpretation of sampling data against applicable occupational exposure criteria.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and related occupational safety and health requirements; familiarity with EPA, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, or other consensus standards is beneficial.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, analytical, communication, and client-service skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to evaluate equipment, processes, work practices, and field conditions in industrial settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to organize field data, photographs, sampling results, and technical findings into client-ready deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • ASP, CSP, CIH, or other relevant professional certification preferred; progress toward certification will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct facility safety inspections, compliance evaluations, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments to identify occupational safety and health hazards.
  • Perform industrial hygiene field activities, including qualitative exposure assessments, air monitoring, noise monitoring, chemical exposure assessments, and related sampling using appropriate instrumentation and methods.
  • Evaluate chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic, and general workplace hazards and recommend control strategies using recognized hierarchy-of-controls principles.
  • Develop and support implementation of safety and industrial hygiene programs, procedures, training materials, and corrective action plans aligned with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Prepare clear technical reports, sampling summaries, inspection findings, and practical recommendations for clients and internal project teams.
  • Collaborate with clients and team members to strengthen safety culture, improve compliance, reduce occupational risk, and support continuous improvement of health and safety processes.
  • Support incident reviews, root-cause evaluations, and corrective action development when requested by clients.
