About The Position

Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling compliance and regulatory activities for the company. Additionally, the position assists in the development of company objectives, policies and strategies. The Safety & Risk Management Director is also responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and directing all aspects of the company’s safety/risk management and compliance activities and has direct authority over all departments in such matters listed above. This position is responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring all policies and procedures in the area of health and safety, especially in relation to governmental regulations. To make certain that all employee on-the-job work activities are carried out in a safe, accident-free environment in coordination with all company, local, state, and OSHA rules and regulations. This position is responsible for the maintenance of the company policy and procedure manual.

Requirements

  • College Graduate, BS/BA in Health Sciences or Industrial Safety program preferred.
  • A Minimum of five (5) years related work experience.
  • Driving record in compliance with NEMS policy regarding insurability.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in new employee orientation.
  • Identify and appraise all accident and loss producing conditions and practices.
  • Develop written programs/polices related to safety and risk management.
  • Monitors all employees, supervisors, managers and coordinators to ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain certifications related to State and Federal regulations.
  • Ensure that the company/employees are in compliance with current OSHA regulations.
  • Ensure that OSHA required training is provided to employees.
  • Ensure that all OSHA recording/reporting requirements are completed.
  • Oversee the Hind Sight 20/20 driving program.
  • Works with company managers and supervisors to address safety questions/issues as necessary with an emphasis on loss prevention strategies.
  • Develop programs to train employees in safety and accident prevention; assist in safety training of management personnel.
  • Manages and processes all of employment related injury/illness.
  • Coordinates all investigations resulting in injury or property damage or which may present a liability risk to the company.
  • Reviews and analyzes company accident reports.
  • Manages all aspects involving Workers’ Compensation matters.
  • Oversees the administration of the Workers’ Compensation program.
  • Authorizes and schedules all medical treatment(s) for employment related injury/illness.
  • Authorizes light duty for injured employees.
  • Approves all return to work releases.
  • Serves as the Controlled Substance Plan Coordinator.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, serves as a contact for sexual harassment complaints.
  • Oversees the Drug Free Workplace Program.
  • Serves as Infection Control Officer for the company.
  • Recommends new and improved safety policies and procedures.
  • Continuously researches information on new trends and techniques pertaining to Safety & Risk Management.
