About The Position

Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a Safety Representative to join our Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) project in Honolulu, HI. As a Safety Representative at Tutor Perini Corp, you will have the opportunity to facilitate job site compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. This includes monitoring subcontractor safety and reporting requirements, coordinating employee drug testing, and conducting safety audits. You will maintain a SAFE job site, monitor safety, and take appropriate action to correct any safety issues or deficiencies. You will also assist supervisor(s) with job site start-up, coordinate with the Project overhead team and owners as needed, assess safety needs for training purposes, schedule and implement established training programs, ensure training requirements are adhered to, and maintain all training documentation. Additionally, you will monitor subcontractor safety training, ensure Project(s) monthly safety statistics are reviewed for accuracy and forwarded to the Safety Director, conduct new hire orientations, and assist the General Superintendent with the development and monitoring of the job-specific safety plan. You will create and distribute the minutes of the safety committee meetings, review accident procedures with the Superintendent, maintain MSDS and Haz-Com program for subcontractors, complete incident reports, and distribute and maintain incident documentation and files. You will also gather toolbox reports from foremen and subcontractors, receive and monitor subcontractor safety reports and respond when discrepancies occur in the monthly man-hour report, monitor and maintain OSHA Log 300, and monitor all accidents and maintain appropriate file records. You will set up drug testing appointments for new craft employees, maintain and conduct safety audits, and assist in the development of project safety incentive programs with Project Manager and Superintendents. You will demonstrate a working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to the discipline. You will develop and manage project safety incentive programs with Project Manager and Superintendents, maintain cameras and film supply, develop job-specific safety orientation and hold once a week for subcontractor personnel, and coordinate with the Division Safety Director. You will attend all pre-installation conferences, schedule and chair OSHA 10-hour safety courses, and rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. You will be creative and resourceful in completing tasks accurately in a compressed time frame and perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations to include health, safety, and welfare as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Works night and weekend shifts
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 or more years of construction safety field experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Represents the company with a positive attitude internally and externally
  • Participates fully as a team member, completing all requirements assigned in a timely manner
  • Treats all employees, clients, subcontractors and vendors with dignity and respect

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, or related field, is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Prolog and CAD preferred
  • CHST preferred

Responsibilities
