Safety Partner - Emergency Department
About The Position
Sentara Health is hiring a full-time Safety Partner for the Emergency Department at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. This role works day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., for 36 hours per week. The Safety Partner assists in providing a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care. The position supports patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm, or other risk behaviors, helping them maintain or enhance function during their hospital stay. The Emergency Department is a 53-bed unit at a Level I trauma facility, with approximately 10% of cases being trauma-related. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire, and de-escalation and physical intervention training must be completed within 30 days of hire. Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in a health sciences program is preferred. Applicants without prior experience or current health sciences program status must successfully complete Sentara's Safety Partner Training Course in addition to core competencies during orientation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
- De-escalation and physical intervention training required within 30 days of hire.
