About The Position

Under the direction of the Safety Supervisor, this role provides support for the safety and welfare of personnel, students, facilities, grounds policy, classroom and non-classroom activities, and District employees while on district grounds. Responsibilities include responding to reports of vandalism, burglary, fire, or other emergencies at various district facilities. The Safety Officer will patrol assigned campus, buildings, and grounds on foot or in a District vehicle, supporting the instructional process with specific responsibilities for the safety and welfare of students while on school grounds. This includes monitoring personnel and/or visitors, communicating information in response to inquiries, and enforcing school and District rules and regulations pertaining to student academic behavior and drug prevention.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or passed the general educational development (GED) test indicating high school graduation level.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • SB 1626 Certificate.
  • Successful completion of SB 390 training and certification (Anyone employed on or after July 1, 2021, must submit proof of training or the training can be completed through District training program upon employment).

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of security or law enforcement experience in an institution or public agency providing protection and enforcement of rules and regulations is desirable.
  • Experience working with adolescents is highly desirable.
