About The Position

Leidos Engineering is seeking qualified Safety Observers in Georgia to join their Power Delivery Services division. This division provides consulting services to electric utilities, focusing on engineering design for electrical transmission, distribution, and substation projects. The Safety Observer will be responsible for conducting safety crew observations, documenting findings on a safety observation form, and ensuring adherence to safety rules. This role involves site visits to observe distribution line crews, coaching and correcting safety performance in real-time, and reporting observations to the Safety Data Analyst. The position also requires tracking work hours, mileage, and reimbursable costs.

Requirements

  • BA degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience; Relevant, client-specific experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Previous relevant experience performing electric distribution line work as related to Leidos' utility client
  • Verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Safety Crew Observations
  • Complete and submit the safety Observation Form
  • Document safety concerns of crew members, proper PPE, work zone setup, equipment and tool conditions
  • Transmit completed Safety Observation Forms to the Safety Data Analyst
  • Track work hours, mileage, and reimbursable costs
  • Perform site visits to observe distribution line crews, their processes and adherence to safety rules
  • Coach and correct, in real time, any lineworker, apprentice or line crew member on enhanced safety performance and one-on-one safety guidance
