Requirements

  • Must have excellent hand eye coordination.
  • Use vision/hearing continuously.
  • Reading and speech required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, machine specific lockout procedures, monthly safety training, etc.
  • Worker generally works alone with little supervision.
  • Operators must be self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each task.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and make necessary decisions.
  • Do only maintenance you are trained to do and keep all body parts out of machinery.
  • Always use our 14 step lockout/tagout procedure before doing any maintenance, clearing jams, or getting into machinery for any reason; be aware of stored energy.
  • Always use proper body mechanics (ex: don’t over reach, get help as needed to push loads out).
  • Use proper PPE (gloves, eye protection, hearing protection).
  • Be aware of and communicate with your co-worker at all times (ex: forklift driver).
  • Will be required to read and write during safety training.

Nice To Haves

  • Level 6 when criteria for Safety Coordinator has been met

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety audits and inspections. Respond to emergencies and investigate accidents/incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist HR Site Manager with the implementation of safety policies and procedures. Coordinate safety drills and emergency response plans.
  • Provide support for site learning teams. Communicate with managers to identify training needs and mapping out training plans for teams and/or individuals.
  • Coordinate with Production Supervisors in regard to daily process issues: safety, housekeeping, labor coverage, operating supplies, training, and job assignments. Assist in shift pass-down of information as needed.
  • Develop safety training plans and schedules. Design and develop safety training programs. Choose appropriate training methods (virtual, simulated, mentoring, on the job training and professional development classes).
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation and reports.
  • Support Swanson Group safety initiatives and be an active participant in safety programs. Promote safety culture within the organization.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of incidents and participate in incident reviews.
  • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of data as requested by plant leadership team. (ex. safety incidents, observations, hazard ids, pre-task assessments, employee turnover; progress on daily, weekly, monthly, annual reviews, etc.)
  • Serve as a point of contact for safety concerns and inquiries. Lead and/or assist in crew safety training as required.
  • Will be the owner of LOTO process and fall protection process.
  • Oversee and advise on purchases of safety and safety-related equipment; may periodically check the operation or use of safety equipment to ensure conformance with OSHA regulations.
  • New Hire Orientation, benefit orientation and general HR related tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Data Entry and administrative tasks.
